Most golfers stand behind the ball, squint at the hole, and guess. Then they stand behind the hole and guess again, usually confirming whatever they already believed.

Faster, more reliable green-reading comes from a different habit: read it from the low side, not the high side. Gravity's pull is easiest to see from below. Then walk your putting line, feeling the slope under your feet instead of just your eyes.

It takes ten extra seconds and it's right a lot more often than a guess from the tee-side view.
